The Peking: Our beams secure a legendary 100-year-old ship28 April 2018
At the beginning of the 20th century, the 115-metre-long, four-masted ship Peking was one of the largest and most technically advanced ships in the world. Built as a steel barque for overseas trade in 1911, it could transport 5,300 tonnes of cargo and sailed 34 times around Cape Horn. The construction method used at that time made the ship very robust and reliable. The hull is made of steel and it could withstand more wind and adverse weather conditions than other ships.The Peking spent the last few years as a museum ship in New York before heading back to Germany in July 2017. It will soon join the German Port Museum, but before that, the crucial challenge is to breathe a new life into this historic vessel.Project News
Steel gives a new life to German bridges15 February 2018
Last year, German magazine Der Spiegel published an article about the collapse of old bridges in Germany - mostly due to heavy vehicles traffic - and the efforts made to reconstruct and modernise them. The reconstruction of the bridge "Demminer Strasse" in Neubrandenburg with ArcelorMittal beams shows that steel is an ideal bridge solution, providing a sustainable, quick and economic construction.Project News
Rennes' new congress centre: from historical convent to modern facility17 October 2016
Built in the 14th century, the former Jacobins convent located in the historical centre of Rennes, (France) is currently being transformed into a new congress centre which will open in 2018. ArcelorMittal Steel for the Renovation of Geoffroy Guichard Stadium in France6 June 2016
For the Euro 2016, the Stadium Geoffroy Guichard in the French town of St. Etienne underwent substantial renovation. ArcelorMittal supplied the steel for the venue's new metal skin: perforated trapzoidal Hacierba steel sheets with the sparkling Aluzinc® Florelis metallic coating and precoated ST 500 sheets.
