New EPDs for decking profiles and sandwich panels made of XCarb® recycled and renewably produced steel

ArcelorMittal Construction's roof decking profiles and PIR sandwich panels made of XCarb® recycled and renewably produced steel are now backed by new Environmental Product Declarations (EPD). The use of XCarb® steel significantly reduces the carbon footprint in the production of these products.

Same performance, improved sustainability

These new Environmental Product Declarations demonstrate that the embodied carbon of XCarb® long span decking profiles is reduced by up to 67% in comparison to profiles made of conventional steel, while the PIR sandwich panels result in up to 43% less embodied carbon. This helps reduce the carbon footprint of buildings, improves green building ratings (such as BREEAM, LEED, and DGNB), and reduces our clients' indirect scope 3 emissions.

The XCarb® recycled and renewably produced steel used for ArcelorMittal's decking profiles and PIR sandwich panels is manufactured via the EAF route from a minimum of 75% scrap using 100% renewable electricity. This way, a far more sustainable construction product can be offered, without any loss of quality.
