The climate emergency has brought into sharp focus the embodied impacts of the built environment, and it is incumbent on designers to make design choices that are right for the planet. After making the choice to build, material selection inevitably follows, and close collaboration with the supply chain is critical to making informed choices.
In response to the Climate Emergency, design guidance in the UK is emerging that introduces embodied carbon targets that progressively reduce in line with the Paris Agreement. As designers embrace the challenge of low carbon design, ArcelorMittal has taken on the challenge of low carbon steelmaking and low carbon building solutions in steel.
