BILKA, founded in 2007, is the largest manufacturer of complete metal roofing systems for residential and industrial buildings in Romania. Today, a quarter of all roofs sold in the country carry the BILKA brand. With around 90 per cent of their output made from steel, prepainted organic coated steel is at the core of BILKA’s products. ArcelorMittal Europe – Flat Products’ steels such as Granite® Deep Mat, Granite® Standard, and Granite® Quartz are used to manufacture their roofing systems, in addition to external and internal cladding and fence slats.
ArcelorMittal’s XCarb® green steel certificates contribute to BILKA’s culture of responsibility
BILKA is among the first of ArcelorMittal customers in Romania to purchase XCarb® green steel certificates. The company cultivates a culture of responsibility at all levels of the business – from the products BILKA makes to the communities in which it carries out its operations.

ArcelorMittal’s XCarb® green steel certificates will allow BILKA to report an equivalent reduction in its Scope 3 emissions, in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol. “We will pass those CO2 savings onto our customers and to the end user,” says Horatiu Tepes. “The XCarb® green steel certificates will help us achieve our target of reducing CO2 emissions and provide a big competitive advantage for the business.”
Setting new standards with Granite® Quartz
Granite® Quartz was the first premium roofing product available in Romania notes Horatiu Tepes, owner and CEO of BILKA: “Its aesthetics, excellent durability, and long warranty immediately conquered the market.
