Steel grades

S550GD-HyPer® + Magnelis® structural steel grades

S550GD-HyPer® + Magnelis® structural steel grades are part of the Magnelis® product range.

Magnelis® is a flat carbon steel product coated on both sides with a zinc-aluminium-magnesium alloy. This alloy, composed of 93.5% zinc, 3.5% aluminium, and 3% magnesium, is applied by means of a continuous hot dip galvanising process. This optimum chemical composition has been selected to provide the best results in terms of corrosion resistance.

S550GD-HyPer® + Magnelis® structural steel grades are mainly used in:

  • construction: structural or non-structural profiles
  • solar energy generation: structures for photovoltaic plants

Technical information

These grades have additional technical guarantees compared to the EN 10346:2015 standard and fulfil the ductility requirements of Eurocode 3, Part 1.1:

  • A minimum proportional elongation of 15% (corresponding to 13% A80 for thickness below 3 mm)
  • Ultimate strain higher than 15x yield strain
  • Ratio of min. tensile strength to yield strength ≥ 1.05.
