ArcelorMittal offers steel to help rebuild Notre-Dame de Paris25 April 2019
After the fire that ravaged Notre-Dame de Paris, the World Heritage masterpiece, on 15 April 2019, ArcelorMittal wishes to support the reconstruction of the cathedral.ArcelorMittal, number one in the world for steel and strongly established in France, will offer steel for the reinforcing and reconstruction of the monument.ArcelorMittal is also offering assistance to the authorities in charge of the reconstruction to provide our expertise and competencies in construction and architecture.
Update: Ahead of schedule! Arch segments at the new ArcelorMittal steel shelters in Taranto6 April 2019
In January 2019, the first arch segment of the new ArcelorMittal (previously the ILVA metallurgical plant) steel shelters in Taranto, Italy were erected. Each segment is composed of six of a total 51 huge arch trusses that will form the 80m high, 254 m wide, and 700 m long cover structure which is required for the environmental containment of the Mineral Park.Heavy plates from our Taranto mill were used for the fabrication of the welded tubes and trusses.The assembled steel will be transported to its final position using dedicated rollers, as demonstrated in the construction process shown in the following video. This challenging work is being carried out under the supervision of SWS Engineering's on-site team & Cimolai, the steel fabricator and erector. ArcelorMittal provides rails and fences to Africa’s first high-speed rail line9 January 2019
Inaugurated on 15 November 2018, the Kenitra-Tangier line is the first high-speed line in Morocco. Its main objective is to link the biggest town of the country, Casablanca, to Tangier. This is the first stage of a project to create up to 1500 kms of new railway lines in Morocco. ArcelorMittal is proud to contribute to this high-level project with the participation of ArcelorMittal Europe – Long Products Rails & Special Sections, who provided rails, and WireSolutions, who provided fences.

The global oil and gas industry places some of the most stringent requirements on steel to ensure the long-term safety and security of energy networks. Nowhere are these requirements higher than in the United States. That’s why Borusan Mannesmann, a leading supplier to the industry, turned to ArcelorMittal Europe – Flat Products when they required steel for a new pipeline project in Texas. The 1.75 billion USD project will transport up to 56 million cubic metres (1.98 billion cubic feet) of natural gas daily from the Texas oilfields to the Atlantic coast.
Gold Medal for Granite® Ultramat30 April 2019
Granite® Ultramat is the latest addition to ArcelorMittal’s Granite® range of pre-painted steels for outdoor building applications. It has an ultra-modern organic coating and allows for the formation of the most difficult shapes of roofing products, even at low temperatures. Manufactured in the Polish ArcelorMittal steelworks of Swietochlowice as well as in Eisehüttenstadt, Germany, it has recently been awarded an MTP Gold Medal, one of the most recognisable awards on the Polish market.
