Alusín Solar

Alusín Solar specialises in the design, manufacture, and installation of metal support structures for solar panels. Located in Avilés, Spain, the company has grown continuously since its foundation in 2010. It has produced and supplied support structures for solar panels providing a total capacity of 850 MW in more than 32 countries on three continents.

The advantages of using Magnelis®

Alusín Solar has tested ArcelorMittal’s Magnelis® coated steel, which provides a very high level of corrosion protection, on the solar poles that they produce. They came to the conclusion that the use of Magnelis® is much more efficient than producing structures to be postgalvanised, enabling Alusín Solar to respond faster to their customers’ demands. A key factor in this success was the development of an automatic 15-year guarantee for installation in soils for Alusín Solar by ArcelorMittal.

Reducing CO2 emissions thanks to close collaboration at a local level

Alusín Solar has signed an agreement to purchase ArcelorMittal’s XCarb® recycled and renewably produced steel with Magnelis® coating which is now being produced at ArcelorMittal’s plant in Aviles, Spain in thicknesses of up to 3.5 mm on its recently revamped galvanising line no. 1. XCarb® recycled and renewably produced steel is made using 100% renewable electricity and a very high proportion of recycled steel. This offers a 70% reduction in CO2 emissions per tonne of steel produced compared with the conventional manufacturing method.

The environmental benefits are increased by the close proximity of steel producer and client: shorter transport routes reduce indirect CO2 emissions as well as delivery times.
