Magnelis®: combining high corrosion protection and long life with a low carbon footprint

Magnelis® is another steel from ArcelorMittal Europe – Flat Products that is used by JACK MULLER’s customers. Although the service centre has not yet purchased XCarb® recycled and renewably produced Magnelis®, Glenn Muller believes it could be of interest to their customers: “We do work with customers who are interested in greener products. These are customers who want to prepare for the future and contribute to the EU’s Green Deal. Magnelis® recycled and renewably produced steel will serve this goal as it reduces Scope 3 emissions for JACK MULLER, our customers, and end users. Combining the high corrosion protection and long life of Magnelis® with the low carbon footprint of XCarb® recycled and renewably produced steels could be very interesting for customers who are engineering steel systems for sectors such as solar farms, HVAC, and the building industry.”

JACK MULLER’s own operations are very sustainable. “We do not use oil, gas, or external sources of water in our facilities,” explains Glenn Muller. “This helps to keep our carbon footprint as low as possible. In addition, all new company cars are electric, and we use electricity for heating. We’re currently working on plans for a new processing facility that will be even more sustainable and make JACK MULLER’s operations future proof.”

JACK MULLER becomes first steel service centre in the Netherlands to stock XCarb® organic coated products

JACK MULLER, an independent steel service centre based in the Netherlands, has become the first in the country to stock XCarb® recycled and renewably produced steel. The company now has a stock of Granite® HDS which was produced by ArcelorMittal Europe – Flat Products using the XCarb® recycled and renewably produced route.

Granite® HDS: organic coated steel with a 62% lower carbon footprint

The Granite® HDS was created using a minimum of 75% scrap steel and 100% renewable electricity. The result is a product with a 62% lower carbon footprint than steel produced via the traditional blast furnace route. The product is also available with an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) which has been independently verified.

“The direct reduction in carbon emissions offered by ArcelorMittal’s XCarb® recycled and renewably produced steel fits perfectly with JACK MULLER’s philosophy,” says Glenn Muller, Owner and Managing Director of JACK MULLER. “We believe in offering customers a choice which includes products that have a lower carbon impact built in. It helps to make them future proof.”

JACK MULLER’s stock of XCarb® recycled and renewably produced Granite® HDS can be delivered to customers immediately. “We began with ArcelorMittal’s Granite® range as organic coated steel is our speciality and our customers expect us to keep them updated about new developments,” notes Coen van Gorp, Commercial Manager for JACK MULLER. “The steel will be marketed via our new web shop under the brand name JACK MULLER® UV Slim+.”

The Granite® HDS has a 35 µm thick coating and a smooth finish. “It is available from www.jackmuller.nl in two colours: RAL 9010 (Pure white) and RAL 9002 (Grey white),” says Coen van Gorp.
